Hello. Welcome to my personal blog. Well, what a difference a year can make! Since the Time Sensitive Womb Residency 2004, we have very busy creating and releasing LP projects and touring from country to country. After an overwhelming year of traveling in 2004, my "2005" strategy was limited the amount of DJ tour dates and focused more on spending time in the studio and producing more LPs and video works. I've added small amounts of video equipment in my studio and now have the ability to produce visual images along with the music. In the next coming months, you'll be able to sample some of my ideas on this blog.

At this time, the Axis Team is deeply involved in the organizing of this years Japan residency at Womb. This year, the 3 weekend (every Friday) residency is entitled "Contact Special." It is a conceptual residency that focuses on unexplained occurrences and extraterrestrial abductions. Yes, that's right, we've organized to have people snatched from the dancefloor, captured by little green people and taken away to another planet! Just kiddin.' But, this is exactly what we'll try to simulate with the help of synchronized lighting/sound/video and other effects. It's a project that requires lots of detail and teamwork. We'll reveal more soon and keep you informed on how things develop up until the last night of Contact Special.

In addition to this, I've created another project that will start in this blog shortly called "Looking For The Perfect Beat." More details soon and of course, the usual party updates/reports and travel experiences from around the world.

こんにちわ。僕のパーソナル・ブログへようこそ。この一年間、ずいぶんいろいろなことがありました！　WombでのTime Sensitive'04レジデンシーを終えてから、アルバム・プロジェクト制作やいろいろな国をツアーしたりしてとても忙しくしていた。2004年過剰なツアー日程をこなして、僕の「2005年計画」はDJツアーを減らして、スタジオで過ごす時間を増やしもっと多くのLPやビデオ作品を作ることに集中すること。スタジオに少しビデオ機材を持ち込んだので、今は音楽とともにビジュアル・イメージをプロデュースすることができるようになった。これからの数ヶ月、このブログで僕のアイディアのいくつかを紹介できると思う。

今、僕たちAxisチームは今年のWombでのレジデンシー準備に深く関わっているところだ。今年は3週間（毎金曜日）で”Contact Special"というタイトルにした。説明不可解な出来事や宇宙への拉致などに焦点をあてたコンセプチュアルなレジデンシーだ。そう、僕らの企画は、ダンスフロアから人々を連れ去って、小さな緑色の人に捕えられ、他の惑星につれていかれる！なんてね。それは冗談だけれど、実際照明、サウンド、ビデオやその他のエフェクトでまさにそういった雰囲気を作り出そうと考えている。細かいディテールとチームワークが必要になる。もうすぐ、Contact Specialの最後の夜まで何が繰り広げられるかをお知らせできるだろう。

それに加えて、”Looking For The Perfect Beat"という企画をこのブログで始めようと思っている。詳細は追って。もちろん普段のパーティレポートや世界中でのツアーでの体験なども紹介していくのでお楽しみに。

また、レジデンシー・テーマは『CONTACT　SPECIAL』。この内容に深く連動したアルバムを10月5日にリリースします。
未確認飛行物体に連れ去られ、「未知との遭遇」をするというテーマでリリースされた９枚の７インチシリーズをコンパイルしたアルバムとなります。（写真でJEFFが手に持っているのが既発の７インチ）
　　
『CONTACT　SPECIAL』とは二つの世界の軌道がテーマであり、それは確認物体と未確　認物体との間の９回にわたる直接の遭遇を通して表現される。それぞれの物体が予想のつかない、対処法の見つからない状況で事実の報告もあればまったくの謎やファンタジーともとれる報告に惑わされている。すべての出来事が地球圏外での現象の世界へと導かれるユニークで興味深い解説となる。それはリスナーを我々の存在自体について、広い宇宙で唯一の生物として活動していることについて考えさせることとなるだろう。

Hello from Melbourne, Australia

Thus far and halfway into, the Australian Tour has been great. Greatmixture of people at most of the parties. I've noticed that there areslightly older audiences coming out, which is perfect as its easier toplay a wider range of music. We started the tour in Sydney, the mostpopulus city. I had not played Sydney in about 2 years and was quiteanxious to find out how it had changed. I could feel that the TechnoMusic Scene solidified and became stronger. I look forward to comingback to Sydney much sooner. Sydney is quite a cosmopolitan city filledwith people from other parts of Australia and other countries. Unlikeculture dominated cities New York, London, Tokyo or Paris, Sydney couldnot be considered the epicenter in which all other cities in thecountry fall second to.

Melbourne, Australia has its own systematic pace. Generally allAustralians are nice but, the people here in Melbourne aredown-to-earth and more approachable. Conversation start very easy here.For those of you who have never traveled to Melbourne, my advice wouldbe to travel in their spring time as the summers can be very hot. Thereare many Chinese and Italians people here. Visit China Town, Richmondand South Yarra areas for shopping and cafes. Recommended shop:Men's clothing go to: Jacob Anthony www.jacobanthony.com,
Record Shop go to: Rhythm and Soul www.rhythmandsoul.com.au andfor jewlery go to a shop named Roun located on Chapel Street in Yarra.

There are very good furniture shops too. Melbourne has a great ArtScene and the largest and most devoted Techno Music Scene in Australia.The party here was great. Nice venue, nice audience. Even with atechnical problem in the middle of my DJ set, the party recovered andworked out fine. Thanks to the crowd for their patience andparticiaption.
While here, we were also able to debut a showing our my latest filmwork, "Three Ages"
by Buster Keaton at the Australia Center For Moving Images.

Adelaide is cool. A small city. Somehow it reminds me of Texas. It islocated in South Australia, so the tempertures can be to the boilingpoint. A fairly large China Town with great food. A nice city to visitbut, I can see that the most interesting sights to see are in thecountryside around Adelaide. The party was great. A small venue whichmade a intimate party. Thanks to all the people that came out -- Seeyou next time.


オーストラリア、メルボルンからＨｅｌｌｏ！

オーストラリアツアーは半分終了したところだけれど、今のところ順調に進んでいる。パーティーにはあらゆる人たちが来てくれている。少し年齢が上の人たちも来てくれているようで、僕にとってはパーフェクト。なぜなら様々な音楽をかけても反応がいいからだ。このツアーはオーストラリア第一の都市シドニーから始まった。シドニーでは2年くらいプレイしていなかったので何か変化があったか興味津々だった。テクノミュージックのシーンはよりしっかりとして強力になった気がした。次回はもっと早く戻ってくるようにしたい。シドニーはほかの地方や国からの人たちがたくさん集まっているコスモポリタンな都市。でも、ニューヨーク、ロンドン、東京やパリのように文化の中心となっている都市とは違って、シドニーは他の都市を差し置いての中心地というわけではないようだ。

メルボルンは独自の機能的なペースを持っている。一般的にオーストラリア人はナイスだが、メルボルンの人たちは特に気取っていなくて打ち解けやすい。ごく簡単に会話を始めることができる。メルボルンを訪れたことがない人たちへの僕のお薦めは春に行くことだ。夏はとても暑くなる。中国人とイタリア人が多くここに住んでいる。ショッピングやカフェにはチャイナ・タウン、Richmond, SouthYarraといったところがいいだろう。お薦めの店：メンズの洋服ならJacob Anhony(www.jacobanthony.com)、レコード・ショップならRhythm and Soul(www.rhythmandsoul.com.au)、アクセサリーはYarraのChapel StreetにあるRounというところがいい。

良い家具の店もたくさんある。メルボルンはアートのシーンも盛んだし、テクノミュージックのシーンもオーストラリアで一番大きい。パーティはグレートだった。ナイスなべニューにナイスなオーディエンス。ＤＪセットの途中で機材の問題があったけれどパーティはすぐに持ち返した。オーディエンスのおかげ。
ここにいる間、僕の最新の映画関係の仕事、バスター・キートンの"Three Ages"をAustralia Center For MovingImagesにて初披露することができた。

アデレイドはクールな小さな都市。なぜかテキサスを思い起こさせる。オーストラリア南部にあるので、気温はとても高くなる。かなり大きなチャイナ・タウンがあり食べ物もおいしい。旅行するのに良い街だが実は一番の見所は街の周りの田舎にあるみたいだ。パーティはよかった。小さなべニューでオーディエンスと近くコミュニケーションできた。来てくれた人たちありがとう。また次回会おう。

【11/22　[Three Ages]Film From Buster Keaton With Electronic Soundtrack From Jeff Mills @ Cinema 1/ACMI - Melbourne / Australia】

What's going on here in Buenos Aires?!. It's been a busy day here. Quite chaotic and with turmoil. The day started out very nice, the sun finally came out. Perfect temperture: 80 F. Partly cloudy with a touch of Chinese National Flag..................(huh). That's right it's a state visit, the President of China is arriving here in Argentina and staying at this hotel. Chinese secret service on every floor. I haven't seen more dark haired, dark suited people since "Men In Black - Part 2". I figure I could avoid the welcoming by slipping out for the afternoon and come back later when things calm down. A lengthly walk through the streets around the downtown area brings me to the financial part of the city. Older buildings with huge facades and massive door openings. The city is busy and so it the riot police..........
that's right Argentina Riot Police have a large street leading to the financial district blocked off and riot police are preparing for a conflict. I take a few photos and continue on my walk back to the hotel.


As I near the hotel, I suddenly hear people yelling from across the street. Like all the people that were walking down the street, all the people in black suits and hotel security in front of the hotel, the people eating at the cafe 50 feet away and most shocking the Argentina police force all stood there and watched 4 Chinese Secret Service agents beat 2 young Argentine protesters to the ground. This lasted for about 10 minutes. I took a picture from across the street -- (zoom in to view it). I suppose this is the way of China but, I was shocked to see that Argentina Police turned a blind eye. Interesting!.

Well, it's been a experience here. We leave for Austraila tonight.


ブエノスアイレスはいったいどうなってるんだ？　今日はどうも忙しい日のようだ。かなり混乱していている。一日は気持ちよくスタートした。やっと太陽がでてくれたのだ。完璧な温度：華氏80度（摂氏30度）。ときどき曇り、のち中国の国旗がはためく…（はぁ）。
そう、今日は中国総裁がアルゼンチンを訪問し、僕と同じホテルに泊まっている。中国人のシークレット・サービスが各フロアにいる。こんなにたくさんの黒髪、黒スーツの人たちを見たのは「Men in Black - Part 2」の映画以来だ。僕は総裁到着を避けるために午後ホテルを抜け出し、物事が落ち着いてから戻ろうと思っていた。ダウンタウンの通りを歩いているうちに金融街にでたみたいだ。巨大な入り口ドアのある古い建物が続く。街はにぎやかで、警察も同様…。
アルゼンチンの機動隊が金融街に続く大きな通りを通行止めにして、デモに備えているのだった。僕は写真を数枚撮って、ホテルへ戻ろうと歩いていた。

ホテルに近づいてきたとき、突然通りの反対側で人々が叫んでいるのが聞こえた。通りを歩いている人たち、黒スーツ、ホテルの警備員、150m先のカフェで食事をしている人たち、そして一番ショックを受けているだろうアルゼンチンの警察はみんな、４人の中国人のシークレットサービスが若いアルゼンチン人２人を殴り、地面に押さえつけているのを見ていた。約10分ほどのことだったと思う。僕は通りの反対側から写真を撮った（ズームを使った）。もしかしてこれが中国のやり方なのかもしれないけれど、アルゼンチン警察がその場で見てみぬふりをしたことにショックを受けた。興味深いことだ。

さて、今日の体験は以上。今晩オーストラリアに向って出発する。
