Berlin:

Hello everyone. I just got back from Japan. I don't think I had a freehour the entire time but, we all had a great time there. My first DJset at the club Yellow was really enjoyable. If I could play that typeof music once a month, I'd be the happiest DJ you ever could imagine.Some of those records I brought had not been played since 20 years.While playing them, it brought back so many memories of when I was justlearning how to DJ. Thanks to all the people that came out to share thenight hours. I hope to have the chance to play there again sometime inthe future. Also while there, I played at the Nigisa Festival. This wasfantastic!. A very jungle-type of atmosphere that I rarely see thesedays since Electronic Music became "homogenized" and "squeeky clean".It was refreshing to see people "let go" for change. I understand theoverall crowd was much bigger than previous years. And from a fewconversations, I'm informed that Techno Music is quite exciting formany people again -- this is great news. My next date in Japan will bein Sept. 06' at the Wire event with Takkyu Iishino. I had not played atWire for a few years so, i look forward to it and to play new thingsfor all the people again.

Next week, I'm to play a club in Chicago at the Sound Bar and willprobably use alot of the house/disco/etc. records from the Yellowparty. Hope to see the house-heads!. I rarely play in Chicago and lookforward to this party as it might give me more in-sight as to what theChicago scene is really like right now.

Things are going great with "The Bells" and "Blue Potential" DVD(s).Thanks to all those who have it. For me, The Blue Potential DVD isreally one of those unique defining moments in my music career. Whenmusic or anything audible can be transferred to other genres, it actslike a report card. From this experience, I will now move to exploremore abstract works.

皆さん、こんにちわ。たった今、日本から戻ってきました。フリーの時間は全くなかったけれど、とてもグレートな時間をすごすことができた。最初のYellowでのDJセットは本当に楽しかった。ああいったタイプの音楽を月に一度でもプレイできるのなら、僕は最高にハッピーなDJになれるのに。持っていったレコードの中には20年間かけてなかったレコードもあったんだ。プレイしている間、DJを始めたばかりのころのありとあらゆる思い出がよみがえってきた。この夜を僕と一緒にシェアしてくれた皆、ありがとう。また将来Yellowでプレイする機会があると思いたい。

そして渚でのプレイし。ファンタスティックだったよ！　エレクトロニック・ミュージックが「単一化」されて「クリーン」なものになってしまって以来、久しぶりにみるジャングルのような雰囲気だったね。みんなが変化を求めて自分を解放しているのを見るのはとても新鮮だった。前年よりクラウドの数もだいぶ増えたらしい。聞いたところでは、テクノがまた盛り上がってきているとのこと。素晴らしいニュースだ。次回の来日は９月のWIREで石野卓球たちと一緒だ。WIREは２年ぶりだし、新しいものを皆のためにプレイするのを楽しみにしている。

来週はシカゴのSoundBarというクラブでプレイする。たぶんYellowで使ったハウス・ディスコなどをたくさんかけると思う。ハウス好きがたくさんくればいいな。シカゴではめったにプレイすることがなく、今回は今のシカゴのシーンの本当の姿を発見できる機会になるだろうし楽しみだ。

「The Bells」と「Blue Potential」のDVDは順調。買ってくれた人たち、ありがとう。「Blue Potential」は僕のキャリアの中で、ユニークで洗練された瞬間のひとつだ。音楽など録音物が別のジャンルに変換されるとき、それは報告書のような役割を果たす。今回の経験から、今後さらにアブストラクトな作品にチャレンジしていこうと思っている。
