＜Warped Tour Blog #2＞
前回のブログ更新から10日間じゃなくて、もう10年も経過したように感じる～！！
現在参戦中のワープド・ツアーは独自の世界観のあるロック系サマー・キャンプ
もしくはサーカスのツアーみたい！
このツアー参加は私の長年の夢だったから
ふと気づくと「どうしよう！あのワープド・ツアーに参加してるんだ！」って
信じられない気持ちだった。
BENNIE BECCAとの夏フェス･ライヴで日本へ行く期間以外は
ほぼ全公演に参加しているから、凄く嬉しい♪
このツアー終了後は、きっと凹むんだろうなぁ～。
そうそう！私、今回のツアーの準備が全然なってなかったの。
とにかく暑すぎるから、持ってきた洋服も靴も全然この場に合ってなくて！
でも、このツアーでは毎日新しいことを学んでる。
音楽業界のこと、自分の音楽について、私自身について、そして他の人達について、、、。
この経験は説明しようとしても、なかなか詳細までを上手く伝えきれないほど。
ワープド・ツアーの１日の様子を話すね。
毎朝、目が覚めると寝不足のまま急いで支度をするの。
というのも、（ライヴ会場で各アーティストが押さえる）テントの場所取りのために
早起きしなきゃいけないから。
朝食は7～９時だから（テントの場所取りの後でも）十分時間はあるけど
ツアー・バスからテント設営場所まで遠かったりすると
朝食の時間帯までかかることもある。
各会場によって違うから、平らな舗装路ならベストだけど
時には砂利道や草で覆われた道でテントを運ばなきゃいけないこともあるんだ。
会場時間は大抵朝11時だから、テント設営後はツアー・マネージャーのカイルと
プロモーションをするの。
ヘッドフォンとiPod、そしてＣＤを準備して
山積みのフライヤーを来場者へ配布するんだけど
他のバンドも皆同じ宣伝活動をしているから
朝から既にいろんなバンドの音楽を聴いているお客さんの中には
ムッとする人もいたりして、、、。
他のバンドのヘッドフォンの間で上手く回避しながら進めなきゃいけないから
思うようには多くのお客さん達に届かないんだけどね。
会場時間の頃には、その日自分が演奏するステージが何処かがわかるの。
ラッキーな時は「Ernie Ball Stage」に出演することもある。
１日に可能な限り多くのテントで演奏したいから
「KIA」、 「Altec 」、「Girlz Garage」での出演枠チェックも欠かせない。
各テントではいつも私の出演時間を捻出してくれるから、ホントに有難いわ。
自分の出演時間の確定後は、その時間帯を書いたポスターを会場中に貼るの。
実に単調な過程なんだけど、他の全バンドが同じ作業に入るから
（ポスターの）場所取り合戦になるんだ！
（出演後の）残りの時間は、自分のアーティスト・テントで
自分の作品を聴いてもらい、ＣＤやＴシャツを購入してもらえるように
宣伝活動に励むの。私の目標としては、商品を購入する、しないに関わらず
より大勢の人達に私のことを知って欲しいと思ってる。
１日で唯一ある休憩時間は12時～14時までに設定されたランチ・タイム。
私のテントには（ツア・マネと私の）２人しかいないから
食事は大抵テントに持ち帰らなきゃいけないんだけどね。
ケータリング・ルームはいつも大行列で、食事を貰うまでにもの凄く時間がかかるの！
でも、ここのケータリング・ルームへ行くと、いろんな人達に会えるし
面白い会話もできるんだ。
夜の19時くらいになると、いつもテントを片付けて
夕食をとり、会場を出て行くオーディエンスの人達にフライヤーを配布するの。
渡したその場で、そのまま地面にフライヤーを捨てる人も中にはいて、、。
そして、ライヴ以外で最高なのは
夜に開催されるバーベキュー＆バー・タイム。
帰りのバスは22時～朝３時くらいに会場を出るから
かなりクレイジーなパーティになることもあるんだ。
今回の（ワープド・）ツアーで、私が一番気に入った土地はカナダ！
信じられないほど凄かった！
私の音楽に対する反応も購買意欲も一番良かったの！
勿論のことだけど、カナダをまわった２日間は、美しい大自然に囲まれて最高だった！
モントリオールから次の街へ移動する日、ツアー・バスの窓から花火を見たの。
あと、モントリオールで浴びたシャワーはツアー中で一番快適だった。
今回のツアー中に熱いお湯が出るシャワーが設置された環境は珍しかったから
天国のようだったわ！
今日はオートマティック・ラブレターと同じツアー・バスで移動する最終日だから
ホントに悲しい:( 。
私は彼らが大好きだし、とってもいい友達になったんだ。
あと、凄く清潔なツアー・バスで、お互いの空間を尊重できるような仲間や環境に
恵まれるって珍しいらしいんだ。
明日から違うバスに変わるけど、どうなるかなぁ、、。
多くのバンドはツアー中にヴァンで移動するから
私はバス移動できるだけでも、とてもラッキーだと実感してる。
毎日が新しい体験の連続。
たとえ試練と苦難があっても、私は日々感謝の気持ちで一杯。
他のバンドと同様に、とにかく泥まみれになって頑張ってるから:O)！
Warped Tour Blog #2
It feels like 10 years instead of 10 days ago that I wrote my last blog!
Warped Tour is a rock and roll summer camp/traveling circus/it's oooown
world.
I suddenly had a moment of disbelief where I realized,
"OMG, I'm on Warped Tour!"because I've dreamt of being on this tour for years.
I'm so glad I get to be on nearly the entire tour
besides the week where I'm going to Japan for the summer festivals
with Bennie Becca. I realize when the tour is over,
I'm going to miss it terribly.
I'm so ill prepared for being here it's ridiculous.
I have all the wrong clothes, all the wrong shoes...
it's just too hot for anything! Every day
I learn something new whether it's about the music industry,
my music personally, myself, or other people.
This experience is something I could try to explain but
the description will never do justice.
Every morning I wake up, never feeling like I've slept enough,
and I rush to get ready.
We have to get up early enough to get a good tent spot.
Breakfast is from 7-9 so hopefully there is enough time for that.
Sometimes the bus is located extremely far from where the tents are set up,
so getting the tent materials to the venue can take up all the time
we have for breakfast.
All the venues are different, so sometimes you're pushing
your tent materials up a gravel road, or down a grassy path,
or hopefully on flat pavement.
Doors are usually at 11, so after setting up the tent,
my tour manager Kyle and I will try to hit the lines.
We take headphones, an iPod,CDs, and tons of flyers and try to meet as many people as we can.
There are tons and tons of bands doing the same thing,
so often times people get really annoyed
because they've been listening to other bands all morning already.
You also find yourself maneuvering around other bands and their
headphones so you can't get to as many people as you hope.
When doors open is usually around the time
I know where I'll be playing that day.
If I'm lucky, I'll be on the schedule to play the Ernie Ball stage.
I also try to play as many tents as I can in a day,
so we check to see if the KIA, Altec, and Girlz Garage tents have availability for me.
They always try to make time for me to play and
I'm so appreciative. After finding my set times,
I put posters up all over the venue with my set time on them.
This is a really monotonous process and every other band is doing the same
thing so you're competing for space.
The rest of the day is spent promoting, trying to get people to our tent to
listen to the album, and hopefully they will buy the CD or a shirt!
My main goal is just to get more people to know who I am,
regardless if they have the money to buy anything or not.
The only sort of break we will take in a day is for lunch,
whicb is from 12-2, and our food is generally
taken back to the tent to be eaten since there are only two of us to
watch the tent and promote.
The catering line itself is always massive and takes ages to get through!
But you end up meeting people and having interesting
conversations.
We usually take the tent down around 7 or so,
grab dinner, and then pass out flyers to the people leaving the venue.
Often times people take your flyer then drop it directly after you give it to them.
It's frustrating but the most important thing
I've found with being out here is to not take things personally.
The best part of the day besides playing is the barbeque/bar at night.
The bus calls can range from 10pm-3am
so sometimes the parties can get pretty insane.
My favorite place that we've been so far on this tour was Canada!
It's incredible!
The audience seemed to be most responsive to
my music and eager to make purchases.
Not to mention we were surrounded by beautiful nature during those two days. When we left Montreal, there was a fireworks show that
we watched from our bus windows.
I also had the best shower that I've had yet in Montreal.
Having hot water in a shower and time to enjoy it is really rare on this tour.
So it feels like heaven when you are able to have that!
It's my last day on Automatic Loveletter's tour bus and I'm really sad :(.
I love these guys and we've become good friends.
It's also a really clean bus and everybody is respectful of each other's space and things.
I hear that's pretty rare, so we'll see when I change buses tomorrow how it goes.
I'm just really lucky to even be on a bus, because a lot of bands on this tour are traveling in vans.
Everyday is a new experience, and everyday I'm thankful, regardless of the
trials and tribulations of the day.
I'm getting down and dirty with the rest of 'em :O)
